The Cary-Lift is still in production with three lines that will guarantee the right fit for any that requires heavy lifting and moving. Pettibone maintains a specific cache of products of heavy-duty machinery and allows the sister companies to handle other areas of expertise. These two additions helped solidify Pettibone’s position as a corporation that had it all. A year later, the company purchased Ardco a well-known manufacturer of off-road vehicles. Barko is a company that has focused on forestry and industrial markets and is a perfect fit for the Pettibone family. In 1988, the company decided to branch out and acquired Barko Hydraulics. They serve approximately 60 countries outside of the United States and employ nearly 5,000 people across the country.

Pettibone has grown substantially over the years. It was at this time the company became Pettibone/Traverse Lift, LLC. In 1983 the company struggled with their finances and found a loan that would get them back on the right track. They found staying power in 1949 when Pil LaTessendre first built the Cary-Lift and sold the manufacturing rights to Pettibone in 1951. The company has stayed focused on railroads and has grown in other markets like construction and mining. Pettibone Corporation began its manufacturing journey in 1881 when our country was expanding to the West and the railroads were a gold mine for work and profit.
